Mrs. G's

Mrs G's is proposing a multi-phase project on 16 acres of land that will consist of passive solor greenhouses, mushroom farms and vertical greenhouse facilities. Mrs. G’s is a Joint Venture food sovereignty project to feed remote communities, 365 days a year. The structures and farming systems are configured to grow many types of plants, mushrooms and leafy vegetables using the latest scientific methodologies and equipment available today.

Alberta has always had a strong focus on farming and agriculture, and with Greenhouses we extend the season of “Home Grown”, food source for the community and provides some local food sovereignity.

Highlights
  • Reduced Energy Cost: Power production through Co-Generation and Solar we will lower our electrical costs and carbon emissions to reduce environmental impact and increase profitability.
  • Low Water Consumption: Vertical farming uses consistently less water.
  • Healthier: By growing in greenhouses we can reduce or eliminate the use of herbicides, pesticides. By producing locally and picking when fresh the customers will get healthier, fresher produce.
  • Employment: Creation of over 40-120 skilled full-time employment career opportunities for local workers. Mrs. G’s has a hire local policy.
  • Modular Designed: Units are designed to fit into most existing spaces with minimal alterations to the base building.
  • Community Development: Mrs. G's intends to partner with Portage College to help in providing the local community with training on vertical farming, to experiment with better growing practices, and to build the underlying “Smart Farm” with artificial intelligence and machine learning technology.

Mrs. G’s is a food sovereignty project to ensure everyone in the surrounding communities will enjoy the same quality and abundance year round.
